Reading Material!

Peterborough Examiner, August 10th, 1917.

The regular “This Week in Peterborough” post, looking at 1917 this time, will occur tomorrow.  In the meantime, here’s a little look at what sorts of summer reading Peterborians were getting up to that year.

I must confess, sadly, to having not read any the books on that particular list.  It is interesting, however, to see The Birth of a Nation listed, and under that title.  The infamous film of the same name, which had released in 1915, was largely based on a piece of revisionist historical fiction called The Clansman.

Have any of you come across any of those titles in your literary wanderings?  Were they any good?  Let us know in the comments!
