The regular “This Week in Peterborough” post, looking at 1917 this time, will occur tomorrow. In the meantime, here’s a little look at what sorts of summer reading Peterborians were getting up to that year.
I must confess, sadly, to having not read any the books on that particular list. It is interesting, however, to see The Birth of a Nation listed, and under that title. The infamous film of the same name, which had released in 1915, was largely based on a piece of revisionist historical fiction called The Clansman.
